Potpourri Sachet (crochet craft)

Crochet a pretty sachet to hold potpourri or dried herbs in a drawer or closet. This sachet crochet pattern  has an antique feel with delicate flowers. Try drying your own flowers and herbs to fill this sachet.



Materials:

• Yarn: Lily Sugar ’n Cream (70.9 g/2.5 oz)

Main color (MC) (White): 1 ball
Contrast A (Cream): 1 ball

• Crochet hook: Size 4 mm (U.S. G or 6) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge: 14 dc and 6½ rows = 4 ins [10 cm].
Size: Approx 4¼ ins [11 cm] wide x 5 ins [12.5 cm] high.
Instructions:
With MC, ch 2.
1st rnd: (RS). 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st to first sc.
2nd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc. 12 sc.
3rd rnd: Ch 1. *2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 18 sc.
4th rnd: Ch 1. *1 sc in each of next 2 sc. 2 sc in next sc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 24 sc.
5th rnd: Ch 1. Working in back loops only, 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.
6th rnd: Ch 3. 2 dc in same sp as last sl st. *Miss next sc. 3 dc in next sc. Rep from * to last sc. Miss last sc. Join with sl st to top of ch 3.
7th rnd: Sl st in next dc. Ch 3. 2 dc in same sp as last sl st. *3 dc in center dc of next 3 dc group.
Rep from * around. Join with sl st to top of ch 3.
Rep last rnd 3 times more.
Next rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as last sl st. 1 sc in each dc around. Join with sl st to first sc.
Next rnd: (Eyelet rnd). Ch 4. Miss next sc. *1 dc in next sc. Ch 1. Miss next sc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to 3rd ch of ch 4.
Next rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as last sl st. *1 sc in next ch-1 sp. 1 sc in next dc. Rep from * around to last ch-1 sp. 1 sc in last ch-1 sp. Join A with sl st to first sc.
Next rnd: With A, ch 1. (1 sc. Ch 3. 2 dc) in same sp as last sl st. *Miss next 2 sc. (1 sc. Ch 3. 2 dc) in next sc. Rep from * to last 2 sc. Miss last 2 sc. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
Bottom Edging: With RS of work facing, join A with sl st to any rem loop of 5th rnd. (1 sc. Ch 3. 2 dc) in same sp as last sl st. *Miss next 2 loops. (1 sc. Ch 3. 2 dc) in next loop. Rep from * to last 2 loops. Miss last 2 loops. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
Drawstring: With MC, make a chain 15 ins [38 cm] long. Fasten off.
Flower (make 2).
With A, ch 4.
1st rnd: 1 dc in 4th ch from hook. Ch 3. (Sl st. Ch 3. 1 dc. Ch 3) 4 times in same sp. Sl st in same sp. Fasten off.
Weave Drawstring through eyelet rnd. Sew 1 Flower to each end of Drawstring.
Hanging Loop: Join MC with sl st at opposite side of eyelet rnd to Drawstring opening. Ch 40. Join with sl st in same sp.
Fasten off.
